These Business Tips Never Let Me Down

These Business Tips Never Let Me Down

Treat Your Website(s) Like an Investment

Your websites grow in value over time… providing you build them in the right way.

These can be blogs, online stores, squeeze pages, sales funnels and so on.

Treat them like an investment and continue to improve them by:

✅  Adding unique content
✅  Improving existing content
✅  Building natural backlinks
✅  Growing social pages naturally

Avoid shortcut strategies such as:

❌  Adding poor-quality content
❌  Mass backlink building
❌  Paying for social media followers
❌  Displaying too many adverts

Being consistent and creating quality work will make your website successful.

One Project at a Time

Trying to build and grow multiple websites and online properties simultaneously is a challenge.

This path leads to you feeling overwhelmed and even giving up.

This is something I’ve ended up doing in the past myself…and everything then suffered because I didn’t have enough time to devote to any one project.

It’s something I still have to keep in check as I can have a tendency to drift between projects without really noticing that I’m being distracted.

However, being aware and curtailing that “jack of all trades” approach was the key to me unlocking bigger profits.

Work on one project at a time until it starts making some income.

You will have a better understanding of everything involved and have a successful blueprint to follow for your next website.

Stay in Your Lane

Stay In Your Lane

When you first start a new website, it’s exciting.

You’re full of ideas and enthusiasm, and can’t wait to get started!

But… then it gets a bit hard.

This is when you get distracted (I know because I’ve been there).

A new idea comes along, and you dive into that instead (sometimes because it’s easy and you want the distraction).

Then the cycle repeats, and you end up not getting anywhere.

I have made consistent profits from affiliate marketing and websites for over 18 years – it’s what I do full-time.

It’s a fantastic method for many reasons, and most importantly, it’s reliable.

When things get a bit hard, stay in your lane with confidence that this will work for you, but you have to be prepared to give it some time and not expect instant results.

Kill Your Failing Projects

You might have websites and domains that you have held for a long time… I know I do.

You probably have some courses, software or ideas for online projects that you want to get to “one day”.

Are these making money or draining your energy?

Be honest with yourself and drop those old projects and ideas that didn’t quite work.

I know it can be hard, especially if it’s something you’ve already put a lot of time (and perhaps money) into, or it’s something you really love.

It’s all part of the journey, and you learn along the way.

Give yourself permission to clean them out and create room to grow.

You’re in this to build a viable online business not to carry deadweight projects that siphon your time and money.

Find Multiple Income Streams

Multiple Streams of Income

One of the biggest benefits of affiliate websites and stores is flexibility.

You aren’t reliant on just Amazon, eBay, Google or any specific affiliate program or platform for your profits.

When you build high-quality websites you can easily pivot to a different method of income.

Just build one stream at a time until you have it ticking over nicely before you start building a second and subsequent income streams.

Trying to build multiple streams of income at the same time will just lead to failure as I mentioned in the One Project at a Time section.

If you need money quickly or you grow tired of a particular site, you can always flip your website for a big chunk of cash when you are ready to move on.

Final Thoughts

Final Thoughts

With the way that things are going in 2022, what with high inflation and rising food and energy prices, incomes don’t stretch as far as they used to.

And inflation and prices are expected to rise as we move into 2023.

People are looking for online side-hustles or to replace their day-job incomes by building online businesses or becoming online entrepreneurs, more so than ever before.

There are a lot of low-quality courses out there that claim they will teach you how to become rich online, quickly usually, that are designed to appeal to people new to affiliate marketing and creating an online business.

So make sure you thoroughly research any course or mentor/coach that interests you.

Look for genuine reviews rather than the hypey reviews that are structured to get you to click the Buy button at the bottom of them.

Check that the reviewer actually has gone through the course themselves – they should be able to include screen shots of the members’ area and be able to provide a quality critique of the course at the very least.

Stay away from any reviews that just regurgitate what’s on the sales page – these reviewers haven’t bought the course themselves.

Sometimes, reviewers will either be given complementary access to a course for doing a review or the’ll have demo access so they can see inside the  members’ area…

…but they should disclose this in their reviews and some reviewers leave this information out.

If you’re looking for some quality mentors, check out my How Do You Find a Good Affiliate Marketing Mentor? post.

This contains a list of the mentors whose courses I’ve personally bought and followed.

There are other excellent mentors out there but I don’t list them as I’ve never worked with them or bought their courses so I’m not in a position to comment on them.

If you’re looking to build a specific type of online business like focusing on becoming an Amazon affiliate, an Amazon Seller, affiliate marketing through YouTube (rather than websites), general affiliate marketing, etc., let me know in the comments or send me a message through the Contact page, and I’ll do my best to offer some suggestions for mentors to look at.

All the best,

  1. I totally get you when it comes to juggling multiple projects at once. For a while, I refrained from it, but then I realized that it was not me and that I couldn’t function if I worked exclusively on one project.

Okay, I don’t plan to start another website right now. I know that would be too much for me. But in addition to building my website, I already have my business related to the Turkish language, and it also requires some content creation, primarily for social networks and newsletters. There are days when I burn out, but it doesn’t last long. I always get back on track quickly.

And yes, I know those moments when it becomes challenging to maintain focus because of too many ideas, but what I once heard from my mentor (admittedly, I still haven’t started applying it) is the advice to have a special notebook for all those ideas, in which I will write down ideas “for later” and thus get it out of my head and then it’s easier to continue with what I’m currently working on.

Thank you for this article. There are some pretty good tips.

    • Hi Alisa, I have a grasshopper mind by nature so I really have to work at sticking to one project until it’s finished. Creating content is always a problem for bloggers but, more than that, we need to create quality content for our visitors rather than filler content for the search engines. And that can take a lot of time, especially if deep research is involved.

There are times when you need to push through the boring bits and the technical issues that can arise. But then again, there are times when you need to step away, decompress and come back to a task with fresh or renewed eyes. We can usually tell when we’re just banging our heads against a brick wall and it’s time to stop and maybe approach the problem from a different angle.

I’ve heard about that notion of writing ideas down in a notepad. Some people carry small notepads with them just to just down their ideas when they’re out and about. It’s not something I do myself but I do have files where I’ve typed in ideas at the desk. But I find I rarely go back to them! 🙂

Thanks for the feedback; I’m glad you found the post useful.

      All the best,
      Gary.
